Dinaric Arc Parks – Banja Luka conference

  • 26.11.2012.

Last week, from 19th to 23rd November 2012, WWF organized the conference on Dinaric Arc Parks. Conference was held in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dinaric Arc Parks aims to create the platform of protected areas from Slovenia to Albania, capacity building for the parks employees and branding of the Dinarides.

Among more than 150 participants, BIOM members presented activities related to the protection of the Balkan Snow Vole, Dinaromys bogdanovi, together with the ZOO Zagreb representative. Others presented their organisations or protected areas. As a part of the conference, four workshops were held: on climate change, on protected areas in the context of EU accession, on PA-TEEB (protected areas – the economics of ecosystem and biodiversity) and on sustainable tourism.

Five days of the Banja Luka conference were great opportunity for networking and projects development. Additionally, opportunity to find out what are the common issues protected areas deal with was of the great importance for all stakeholders.

Dinaric Arc Project is led by WWF Mediterranean Programme and financed by Norwegian MFA and MAVA Fondation.
