Why Volunteer for Nature in Croatia? Stories from ESC volunteers at Biom

Looking for new opportunities in the future? Do you want to gain experience in nature conservation, develop new skills, travel, and step out of your comfort zone? Get inspired by our ESC volunteers as they reflect on their 2025 journey and share their story with you!

Throughout 2025, the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme brought together three young people from France, Serbia, and Cyprus, who volunteered with the Biom Association and actively contributed to nature conservation across Croatia. Participating in the Volunteer for Nature 2025 project, they took part in bird field research and monitoring of endangered species, directly contributing to the protection of biodiversity. In addition to fieldwork, a significant part of their engagement focused on education and public outreach – from workshops and guided birdwatching activities to creating educational and digital content.

Join our Lena and Anastasis on Tuesday 13th at 5 pm, to learn firsthand about their experiences and adventures, how their time in Croatia expanded and enriched their skillsets and provided them with many unique opportunities – showing how volunteering can connect nature, solidarity, and people from different parts of the world.

They will also share helpful information on how to apply for this and other similar ESC projects for young people aged 18 to 30, what they can gain from the experience, and how it can be valuable in the future. The session will end with an open Q&A and discussion!

The presentation will take place at the Biom office in Zagreb (Čazmanska 2) and online – join us in whichever way suits you best! Please click here to register for Zoom.

Although the presentation will be held in English, we warmly invite young people from Croatia to join us as well – they too have the opportunity to take part in Biom’s and many other similar projects and gain valuable international volunteering experience.
