
If you understand the connections between bird conservation, ecosystems and habitats, this is the job for you! Biom is looking for a motivated person for a Nature Conservation Officer, who will join our team and work independently and collaboratively on the implementation of Biom projects.

You will be working on projects such as LIFE TETIDE, LIFESupport and LIFE EPB that contribute to the conservation of bird species through monitoring, eradication of invasive species and working with the local community and the public.

What you will do:
- Carrying out activities within projects and services
- Conducting field research and bird monitoring within projects and services
- Collecting and/or coordinating data collection according to agreed formats
- Analyzing and/or coordinating data analysis for specific projects/services
- Preparing and/or (peer-to-peer) evaluation of reports
- Provide basic technical IT support for staff
- Have opportunities to present your work and results in conferences
- Maintaining effective communication within the project team (internal communication)
- Reporting to the program manager on work results
- Preparing technical documentation, expert studies and similar materials in the field of nature conservation
Requirements:
- University degree in natural, bio-technical, bio-medical, veterinary, forestry, agronomy and similar sciences
- Strong interest in ornithology (ability to identify birds by sight and hearing is an advantage)
- Experience in similar positions is an advantage
- Field experience is an advantage
- Readiness to conduct field work for several days in a row
- Readiness to work on several different topics and projects
- Advanced level of spoken and written English is mandatory
- Knowledge of Croatian is desirable, but not mandatory
- Knowledge of GIS software is an advantage
- Possession of a category B driving license. If the candidate does not already have one, he/she must obtain it within a reasonable period of time
What we offer:
- A fixed-term employment contract for one year, with the possibility of moving to a permanent position (with a 6-month probationary period)
- A gross salary in the range of 1.260 – 1.960 EUR (depending on competencies and experience)
- A meal and transportation allowance (147 EUR per month)
- A holiday period: 22-30 depending on years of experience
- Work in an office in Zagreb, work from home up to two days a week
- Full-time, 40 hours a week
