Project summary
Institutional Support by the National Foundation for Civil Society Development is awarded to civil society organizations to strengthen their organizational stability and development over a three-year period. This type of support is intended for: enhancing internal capacities (e.g., management, administration, human resources), ensuring the continuity of operations and stable functioning of the organization, strengthening the organization’s impact and visibility within the community, and developing strategic actions and planning.
The goal of institutional support is to enable organizations to operate more effectively, efficiently, and sustainably over the long term in fulfilling their missions in the area of civil society development.
Biom Association is a recipient of the Institutional Support for Stabilization and/or Development of Associations in the area of democratization and societal development for the period 2019–2021.
During the period of institutional support, Biom’s aim was to invest in organizational development and stabilization in order to contribute in the long term to democratization and the development of civil society in the Republic of Croatia.
With the funds from Institutional Support:
- The Species and Habitats Protection Program in line with the EU Habitats and Birds Directives aims to increase the level of nature protection through the implementation of concrete conservation measures, monitoring the status of natural components, informing the public based on expert data, and engaging citizens in improving nature protection in Croatia through innovative educational activities.
- The Protected Areas and Environmental Policy Advocacy Program is focused on improving the implementation of laws and procedures related to nature protection, contributing to the development of an effective and representative network of protected areas, combating illegal activities against nature, and preventing projects that have negative environmental impacts.
- The Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Program aims to expand and enhance the scope and quality of environmentally responsible business practices in Croatia, and to promote natural values as an important resource for tourism and the economy.
- The Biom as a Learning Organization Program focuses on effective planning and monitoring of operations through administration and reporting, strengthening employee and internal organizational capacities, increasing the organization’s visibility, and applying for projects to further develop capacities.
The support has enabled the stabilization of the association’s operations and provided guidance towards its core mission—the democratization of society, strengthening of the civil sector, rule of law, and transparency of public administration operations—all within the field of nature and environmental protection.
