Project summary
The project aims to promote long-term nature conservation and sustainable management of Livanjsko Polje, Glamočko and Kupreško Polje, Mount Dinara, and the Cetina River region. It focuses on advancing national protection for Livanjsko Polje and initiating protection for at least one other region through strategic advocacy and lobbying. The project will assess and influence legal frameworks for nature conservation, track legal processes, and engage with stakeholders through the local partners Estavela and Center for Environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and BIOM in Croatia, supported by EuroNatur’s EU expertise. Local populations will be empowered to act against harmful developments through communication and advocacy training. Natural resource management will focus on water, peat, and forest in Livanjsko Polje, including analyses, pilot projects, and restoration efforts. Community engagement will be enhanced through volunteer grassland restoration camps in Dinara mountain and support for environmentally beneficial land use practices in Cetina River region, Glamočko and Kupreško Poljes. Public awareness will be increased via a communication strategy, awareness-raising actions, and transboundary conservation promotion. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, awareness-raising actions will document and promote the natural and cultural values of karst poljes using modern tools and events, such as a festival of murals.
