Project summary
EuroNatur is carrying out a project with the title “Forest Beyond Borders”. The purpose of the
project is to assess the situation of primary and old-growth forests (PF/OGF) in the Western
Balkans. This includes the elaboration of a (harmonized) identification method and tool resulting in a map showing all concerned forests in the region. Furthermore, an analysis of the legal situation for primary and old-growth forests protection will be carried out as well as the implementation of measures to ensure proper protection where and if needed. The project aims to develop an identification method of primary and old-growth forests applicable for all project countries. These are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
