Tuesday, 11th November 2014 was good for us. HEP (national power company) informed us that they removed all illegal shooting boxes which were placed on hydropower reservoir “Ormož Lake”, on Drava River and along the border with Slovenia. It was bit odd that Slovenian BirdLife partner DOPPS is implementing LIFE project on Slovenian side and that on Croatian side we have illegal killings of birds every winter. In cooperation with Inspection of nature protection (Ministry of environment and nature protection) and State Institute for Nature Protection and with the help of HEP we arranged removal of the illegal platforms. We will continue to monitor illegal hunting, especially after the court in Čakovec ruled that local hunting association is guilty for organizing illegal killings of bird.
