Ornithology camp at the Nature Park Ucka started during the past weekend. Camp is organized by the BIOM in cooperation with the Public institution of Nature Park Ucka. This is 7th consecutive year we ring birds and spend time in wilderness of nature park Ucka. On Saturday we lifted big military tent and on Sunday we set the mist nets used for birds ringing. On Monday everything was ready for bird ringing. Morning shift brought us 53 ringed birds, two recaptures and one control. Best thing about Ucka is diversity of birds – we had 53 ringed birds and 20 species.

Species ringed during first morning: great spotted woodpecker, blackcap, garden warbler, wood warbler, icterine warbler, chiffchaff, great tit, crested tit, blue tit, coal tit, marsh tit, pied flycatcher, robin, nightingale, blackbird, nuthatch, white wagtail, chaffinch, jay and rock bunting.

Additionally, we had great pleasure observing griffon vultures, crossbills, sparrow hawks and peregrine falcon.
