As part of the service of researching and monitoring the status of priority bird species for the Telašćica Nature Park, employees of association Biom conducted monitoring of the Mediterranean shags in March.

The monitoring was carried out by counting the shag nests on the cliffs, as well as all observed individuals, both adults and juveniles.

The Mediterranean shag builds its nest from branches on the cliffs, among the rocks, and sometimes on the ground in bushes. The main threats to the Mediterranean shag are mortality from fishing gear, most commonly fishing nets, and food shortage caused by overfishing.
