Bad EIA practice in Croatia, once again!

  • 20.11.2013.

BIOM recently send comments on the EIA for planned wind power plant VE Senj. Unfortunately, company in charge completely overlooked Golden eagle (nesting only 1.8 km from nearest wind turbine) and Griffon Vulture which is actively using that area and has nesting colony on less than 50 km) away. On top of that, migration and area use was monitored from only 3 vantage points (?!?!?!) although affected area spans over 60 square kilometres.

Once again is renewable energy offered without decent EIA. Foreign investors are often unaware of bad EIA practice in Croatia and public is accepting renewable without needed criticism. In hope these issues will change in near future, BIOM is trying to affect both EIAs and current Croatian legislation.
