2nd stakeholder workshop – Management plan proposal Neretva Delta

In scope of preparing the management plan proposal for Neretva Delta Natura 2000 site, a second stakeholder workshop was held in Opuzen on 14th December 2016. The plan proposal is being prepared by the Counties’ Protected Areas Public Institution, with expert help from Association BIOM and is cofinanced by Euronatur.

The participants of the workshop were representatives from the Croatian Agency for Environment and Nature, Ministry of Environment and Energy, City of Ploče, City of Opuzen, Counties’ tourist board, Hrvatske vode, Hrvatske šume, Counties’ hunting association, local schools, nature protection associations, police, local fire brigades…

During the first part of the workshop Dubravko Dender, employee of the Counties’ Protected Areas Public Institution, presented the work done so far concerning the management plan. Afterwards Ivan Budinski (BIOM) presented the Natura 2000 ecological network and protected areas in Neretva Delta and the legislation concerning these issues.

During the second part of the workshop the participants identified activities that, in their opinion, should be conducted for the successful management of the ecological network and protected areas of Neretva Delta.

The results of the workshop will be analyzed and incorporated in the management plan proposal, which will be finished by the end of 2017.
