Sustain and expand the impact of previous environmental initiatives by utilizing and enhancing existing educational materials and partnerships.
Foster active participation and environmental stewardship by engaging local communities and educational institutions in hands-on, creative, and science-based environmental activities.
Project summary
“Green Classroom 2019” is a continuation of the educational project “Green Classroom” which began in 2018 and was implemented in the area of the City of Sinj and the Split-Dalmatia County. “Green Classroom 2019” envisions the implementation of educational workshops on the topic of the environment and nature, building on previously created materials and established collaborations.
The project plans a series of educational workshops aimed at primary school and preschool children, in cooperation with educational institutions, high school students, in cooperation with secondary schools, the general public and youth, conducted independently and as part of other public events The topics and methodologies of the workshops are designed to be adapted to the target group and to achieve the goal of introducing participants to the characteristics and importance of species and ecosystems, as well as the dangers threatening their survival.
The planned topics of the lectures and workshops include:
- introduction to bird species common at the local and regional level
- presentation and practical implementation of birdwatching
- creative workshops: making birdhouses and bird feeders, insect hotels, along with learning about the species that may inhabit the created structures
- workshops for making paper bird models
- workshops studying animal species present in forests, combined with artistic expression
- introduction to local and regional plant species, and workshops on plant species identification
