The Velebit Nature Park Public Institution and the Association Biom organized a workshop on bird electrocution, held on May 21st in Gospić. Electrocution is one of the major threats to many bird species, particularly top predators, which are characterized by large body sizes and low natural reproduction rates.
The workshop was attended by experts and representatives from the Northern Velebit National Park Public Institution, the Paklenica National Park Public Institution, the Rewilding Velebit Association, and Elektrolika Gospić.
During the theoretical part of the workshop, Ante Kodžoman from the Association Biom introduced participants to the issue of bird electrocution and the monitoring methodology used by Biom as part of the LIFE SUPport project.

After the theoretical session, participants visited several field locations featuring examples of potentially dangerous power poles, as well as examples of good practices in reducing the risk of bird electrocution.
